Description
From April 15 to May 20 2019, I attended Rucka Arts Residency (pronounced “root-ska”) in the town of Cēsis, Latvia, and lived with seven international artists of varying art practices in a big old house. We hung out together, took short holidays in Rīga together, cooked a couple of feasts, and participated in each other’s art projects and workshops.
During our first week here, one of the residency organisers gave us a large salmon filet, so Sarah from Australia (the kangaroo) took charge of organising and preparing a communal meal for us all, assisted by Kristine from Canada (the bear), and Elisabet from Iceland (the horse). Elisabet’s chihuahua Tristan is also part of our group so I’ve painted him into the illustration too!
